What to expect from YachtVape’s Claymore RDA ?

The Claymore RDA is a little nugget of YachtVape. Considering its size, it is specially designed for flavor. Will he keep his promises?

The Claymore RDA is coming out of nowhere at the start of 2021 by YachtVape. A brand unknown to the general public, but which often releases excellent atomizers, in particular the Pandora MTL which had received the title of the top 3 of the RTA MTL of 2020. This time, YachtVape offers us the Claymore RDA and the two-part shape recalls the homonymous mine. Already, its size is an eye-catcher in the 38mm Valhalla eras, as the Claymore RDA is only 22mm. It’s a small RDA with a chunky shape somewhat reminiscent of OFFRF’s RTA Gear.
Really interesting airflows on the Claymore RDA
Considering its design, the Claymore RDA is well on its way to maximizing flavor. But what sets this RDA apart is the way the Airflows are designed. The Airflow ring comes off and is independent of the top cap. In all other RDAs, the Top Cap directly integrates the Airflow holes. In this RDA, it is separate. And it is separate because the Top Cap fits onto the deck. On each side, the deck has a kind of notch on which the Top Cap will settle.
And what is most interesting is that the airflow goes through these two channels to hit the coil. Side airflows exist in several RDAs, but this is the first time (at least for me) that I have seen an airflow that is directed and concentrated by a kind of pipes that redirect to the coil.
On paper, the flavors can only be maximized, but we will have to wait for the reviews to see what happens. Because many RDAs promised a lot on paper, but they turned out to be disappointing afterwards.
Room for big coils
Another thing that you notice about the Claymore RDA is that the deck is really large. Obviously, this is a single coil and that is also a good thing, because we don’t have a lot of single coil drippers on the market. The space for the coil is 9 millimeters which will allow the installation of big coils.
Be careful, however, because the general size of the dripper makes me think that this big deck is a bit contradictory. Because if you put in, say an alien, then it might heat up quite a bit, because the atomization chamber is really small. However, perhaps the particular airflow system allows the coil to be sufficiently cooled.
The well of the Claymore RDA is also large, having a depth of 5 millimeters. And since it comes with a BF pin, then that means it will work like a charm in Squonk.
A plethora of accessories for the Claymore RDA
Another special feature of the Claymore RDA is the plethora of accessories to customize it. It comes with more than 7 different top cap with red, blue, green, transparent, purple, etc. It’s acrylic, because if it was glass, then I think Trinity Glass would have gone bankrupt …
And this “accessorization” is well thought out. Because we understand better why the top is in two parts. It is used to direct the Airflow, but also to change color. Thus, your airflow ring will remain the same, but the drip tip and the top cap will be fully customizable.
These top caps will have to be purchased separately, they are not provided. Even though I don’t like the accessories that you have to buy separately, the fact that you can buy all 7 at once, allows you to have a dripper that can go on all types of mods. We feel that Chinese brands are increasingly moving towards more and more complete accessories with their atomizers.
An affordable price for the whole
The RDA Mongrel launched this fashion by providing a glass top cap directly in the box. And that’s a good thing for the consumer. The Claymore RDA is released just before Chinese New Year 2021, so it will be some time before all the merchant sites offer it. On pre-order, the Claymore RDA is around $ 30 and the 7 pack top cap is around $ 9.
Frankly, the price is more than correct for an RDA that dares a few innovations in its airflow system, its small size optimized for flavors and the basket full of accessories to customize it as desired. Am I going to buy it, why not? I’m always looking for good drippers and this one might be right for me.
