Coilology Coils review : Good quality for their price

Coilology is a Chinese brand that offers coils and wires that are good quality for their price. Let's take a look.

Coilology offers wires and coils which have a good quality/price ratio. When you start in the rebuildable, you will start with any wires like the brand UD or other wires for a few dollars. Afterwards, you will go upmarket and perhaps find yourself in the builder’s coils. Personally, I have made a stock of wires from Vandy Vape, in particular the Superfine MTL Clapton and that suits me perfectly. But Coilology is also worth a detour.

Coilology is a Chinese brand and therefore, we will have a good quality, but nothing more. Its prices are the most attractive. And it has a website where you can buy directly, but the brand is also present on sites like Fastech.

Coilology handmade coils

Coilology offers different types of coils. You have those that are handcrafted and those that are machined. In the handmade coils, there are two small pearls which makes this brand can compete with the american and european builder’s coils.

Coilology’s Sandvik Coils

For some time now, Coilology has been offering high quality wires, namely, Sandvik and Twisted Messes. Sandvik is a Swedish company in industrial tools. But above all, he is the inventor of the Kanthal alloy. Sandvik’s wire is without doubt one of the best on the market. And it’s no coincidence that builders like Twisted Messes use it.

Coilology therefore offers coils with this wire. He sells it in a box of 4 coils with diameters of 26/36 and 28/36 AWG. With this resistive wire, the brand offers you 7 different coils which are :

You do not know the name of these coils? It does not matter. They are exotic coils and the most used are the Alien, the Framed Stapple Alien and the Staggered Fused Clapon. The price of a box of 4 coils goes from 12 to 16 dollars. Which is more than correct. It’s cheaper than what you can find with american builders.

And given the testimony on social networks, it’s Sandvik genuine, because a coil can last up to 3 months according to consumers. You also have to include the price of shipping, but it’s still affordable from China. I did a purchase test and I had 10 dollars of delivery for a box (the price goes up if you take several because of the weight probably).

Coilology’s Twisted Messes coil

Coilology also offers Twisted Messes wire for its coils. Twisted Messes is an American company, known for the high quality of its coils. It seems that they use German wire or Sandvik. They are also known for their Drippers. Coilology only offers aliens with this wire with diameters of 27/37 and 28/36. The 28/36 diameter is available in both 2.5 and 3 mm.

The price of these Twisted Messes coils is 8 dollars for 2 pieces. It is 4 dollars per coil and it still correct, given the quality of the wire. An important thing is that these coils are often for Dual Coil configurations and that they are not suitable for MTL. That’s why I hesitate to buy them, because the coil range goes from 0.10 to 0.25 ohm. This implies a very direct draw and a big vape.

The other Coilology handmade coils

In addition to Sandvik and Twisted Messes, Coilology offers 4 other coils, but the wire is not specified. No doubt a chinese wire, but they are also handmade. And it’s a little strange, because the price remains above average, because a box of 2 coils costs 8 dollars. It is always cheaper than a European builder’s coil, but it will have to be determined how long it will last. These 4 coils are almost the same as those offered with the Sandvik wire.

I think the price is explained because the brand offers these coils in the 3 main wires used. And again, it’s done by hand.

Prebuilt coils from Coilology

It is the most popular range of the brand because it is the cheapest. The coils are machined and you have prices ranging from 3 to 11 dollars depending on the type of coil. Because there are two types of users in the rebuildable. The former maintain their coils for months. And the others, like me, who throw them every one or two weeks.

Prebuilt coils are perfect for this type of user, because for an affordable price, they have a lot of coils. It is also useful for reviewers who have to do a lot of testing and who do not want to waste builder coils which sometimes cost a arm, a leg and even your head.

Keep in mind that the coil value will change depending on whether you choose the SS316L or the Nichrome80. When you choose the metal, the product will display the value of the coils.

Coilology MTL coils

MTL coils are quite rare among Builders. Those of Coilology are machined and I hope they will offer an MTL variant with Sandvik or Twisted Messes in the future, because it would be pure happiness. But the brand offers many coils optimized for MTL which allows you to find your style of indirect vaping.

The company offers both pre-made coils, but also spools, personally, one or the other doesn’t bother me. And I’m currently using Vandy Vape’s MTL Clapton Superfine on spool.

In prebuilt coils

Note also that all the coils pre-prepared for the MTL of the brand have a diameter of 2.5 mm. It is consistent since it is rare and even not recommended to put 3 mm in an RTA MTL which often have small decks.

In spools

On spool, you have 3 types of coils for MTL. In general, the coil will be 3 meters (10 feet) and it is more than enough to make dozens of coils.

In conclusion

As we can see, Coilology has become a specialist in coils. And to have tested them, especially on spools, they are equivalent to those of Vandy Vape. Above all, the fact that they offer Sandvik and Twisted Messes wires shows that they can compete with European and American builders.

And if other Chinese manufacturers copy this trend, then it is all to the benefit of the consumer who can have excellent quality wires and coils. When I have the budget, I think I will take a box of Sandvik and a few coils machined to make me a stock and see what it looks like in the long term. Obviously, being an MTL vaper, I would also take a few boxes for the MTL.
