The best batteries for your mech or regulated mods depend on the voltage, the number of amps, the reputation of the manufacturer. Mooch is a tester specializing in batteries. And his job is essential to have a vape as safe as possible for Mech mods, in particular.

For several years, he has offered a list of the best batteries that can be used in Mech or regulated mod. If you have some pennies, donate to him on Patreon, he well deserves it. He has a Youtube channel where he regularly performs battery Lives and other vaping tests. Note also that this list is quite old and there is a new one in preparation.

The best batteries for regulated mods

Batteries don’t need that much security for regulated mods. Because the chipset will take care of everything. However, bad batteries can catch fire or stop working after just a few uses.

Calculate the necessary amperage of your batteries on regulated boxes

The Vap’Extrême channel made an excellent video (in french) on the batteries where it shows a calculation that can be made to know if our batteries are able to support an regulated box. That is to say if the batteries are sufficient for the power that we send. The calculation is as follows:

Amperage required = Maximum power of your vape / Number of batteries / Minimum voltage per battery / 0.95

Basically, if you are vaping at 100 watts (maximum) on an electro box, then the calculation is as follows:

    (100 watts / 2) / 3.2 / 0.95 = 16.44 amps

We’re going to take the minimum voltage, because it will drop over time as the chipset sends the same power all the time. And in general, a battery at the end of charge is 3.2 volts. The number 2 is the number of batteries and the value 0.95 is the amount of energy that is consumed by the chipset. On average on all regulated boxes, the chipset consumes 5% of the batteries. So in our case, if you have low quality batteries, they will start showing Low Battery or something similar if they get to half charge.

For example, a Samsung 25R has 20 amps and at 100 watts, we draw around 16.44 amps, so it will discharge very quickly. It is not a question of security. You do not fear anything on an regulated box, unlike the mechs. Except that this simple calculation allows you to take the necessary batteries according to the wattage at which you are vaping.

    Beware of rewrapped batteries

This list does not mean that you have to buy these batteries for your mods. It simply indicates the best batteries that have passed all the tests. When you buy your batteries, make sure the seller offers original batteries. Because there are many counterfeits. There are only a few battery manufacturers in the world with Samsung, LG or Sony. Molicel is an exception, but everyone else is rewrapper. This means that they take batteries from the 3 major manufacturers and put their packaging on them.

This implies that when you buy rewrapped batteries you cannot be sure they are from the same batch. Some may be very good while others will be less so. Among the best sites for batteries, you have NKON which delivers everywhere in Europe or Fogstar in England. The latter only ships to England, but it also offers wholesale prices if you buy a lot of batteries at the same time (value over 60 pounds).
